The region around Nowra is beautiful farming country with a strong dairy industry and a number of State forests but is also increasingly a tree-change/sea change retirement and leisure area for Canberra and Sydney. With kids I don't think a long drive is all that amazing a way to start and finish a short holiday, so I'd sway towards some of the closer places (no further than Port Stephens or Nowra). If I was coming down from Canberra I would just use the Hume Highway, express way all the way, get of at Sallys corner road at the McDonalds, head to Exeter then go down thru Kangaroo Valley, Whats not to love, high quality tarred roads all the way!! Those prices are a little low for the Nowra area, but I couldn’t recommend a better place to live in terms of distance to Sydney and future potential. The Bomaderry - Kiama service currently uses a single Endeavour set, which is changed out overnight weekly for maintenance. Geographically Nowra is a very pretty place. There was formerly a second set, but that was used to launch the second Bathurst Bullet.
